Support Australian Schools Rugby

The 50th annual Australian Schools Rugby Union (ASRU) Championship, to be held next week 1-5 July at Sunshine Coast Stadium, attracts ~330 of the very best young athletes (184 boys; 144 girls) from across Australia.

This iconic tournament showcases Australia’s emerging rugby talent in a fun, safe, and secure environment. Players experience positive physical and mental well-being outcomes. Furthermore, the history, heritage, unique ethos, and values of our great global game are promoted throughout the competition.

Participants and their families and friends pay to participate; however, many other costs are involved in running this tournament. Therefore, the ASRU Foundation is fundraising to cover these costs as well as other ancillary costs required to deliver the other strategic pillars listed below.

  1. Selection of ASRU national coaches and management who share the ethos and values of rugby with students.
  2. Selection of the Australian schoolgirls and schoolboys’ rugby teams following the National Championships who benefit from international experiences – a strong point of difference to other sporting codes.
  3. Greater investment in girls’ schools rugby to provide physical, mental and holistic wellbeing educational outcomes for girls.

The Australian Schools Rugby Union has provided an expansive nursery to foster the opportunities and aspirations of school rugby players for over 50 years, establishing an extraordinary legacy and goodwill of performing at the highest level. This legacy is evident in the tens of thousands of young schoolboys—and now schoolgirls—from across the country who represented their States at the Australian Schools Rugby Championships, those who represented the Australian Schoolboys or Australian Schoolgirls, and many who then went on to represent our country with distinction as Wallabies and Wallaroos at World Cups, and now also the Youth Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, and the Olympic Games.
